Is it a Scam? Here's how you'll know!

By Dr. Jeffrey Lant, CEO of Worldprofit, Inc.

Hundreds of thousands of people worldwide have been lured by Internet scams and lost millions of dollars.

Now hear this: not one of these people had to lose a single penny. EVERY scam under the sun can easily be identified... and therefore avoided. Here are the signs of clear and present danger:

1) Scams prosper by telling people they can get rich without work.
Here's a dead give away! Real businesses can and should make their offers as good as possible, always maximising advantages while minimizing what you must do to achieve results. But scams cross the line, saying you will achieve success without effort. here's where the old saying comes in. " If it seems too good to be true... it isn't!" Your mother told you this, and your mother was right.

2) Scams never feature how long they've been in business.
Why? because they aim to arrive, defraud the maximum amount as quickly as possible... then pick up silently and leave. real businesses are proud of the number of years they've been helping people. You'll find this information prominetly displayed. They want you to know they've been here... and plan to remain here. Scams don't.

3). Scams are not accredited by The Better Business Bureau or other professional associations.
real businesses understand that people may have hesitations or doubts about doing businesses with a new, untested company. They therefore, make it a point to earn professional designations which give their new customers peace of mind.

The Better Business Bureau, for instance, the world's best known consumer protection and consumers advocacy organisation, has a business accreditation program. After such extensive "due dilligence", you can bet the business will proudly display their seal of accreditation. Scams don't, because scams can't.

4) Scams don't sell real products. What they in fact do sell is greed.
Talk to any business person about their products and services and they'll happily burble on for hour after hour. Scamsters won't.

A scam has no product or service. It doesn't sell anything worth having, it's all about tapping into and controlling you through your own potent greed.

Real businesses are ecstatic to talk about what they can do for you, and tell you all about the beneficial details. Scams don't dare tell you what they're all about so they tap deep into your own greed and use that to blind you to what they really do.

5) Scams don't provide real names, real addresses, real phone numbers, etc.
real businesses, legitimate businesses are here today, here tomorrow. They live or die by treating old customers well so they return... and motivating new customers to come and visit. This means providing these customers with necessary contact information.

Scams are different. Go to thei website. can you easily get address, phone etc? No! In fact it's just about impossible to get any genuine contact details. remember, scams don't want you to know who they are, where they are located, how to contact them. Quite the contrary.

6) Scams don't tell you the names of the principals and their credentials.
Remember, scams profit by dazzling you with riches without work. Such natural details as the names and credentials of the principals... always trumpeted in real businesses... are never provided.

Scamsters, remember, count on you being so excited about your imminent prosperity that you won't notice you have no information about the people at this enterprise who are responsible for providing its benefits.

Last words

There have been scams as long as there have been humans. The Internet, however, has empowered scamsters as never before. Luckily for you, every scam in the world can be easily detected. You simply must control your greed... that makes scams so attractive... and apply the common sense admonitions found here.

Some important lessons life teaches you...

Most Important Lesson

During my second month of nursing school, our professor gave us a pop quiz. I was a conscientious student and had breezed through the questions, until I read the last one:
"What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?" Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen the cleaning woman several times. She was tall, dark-haired and in her 50s, but how would I know her name? I handed in my paper, leaving the last question blank. Just before class ended, one student asked if the last question would count toward our quiz grade. "Absolutely," said the professor. "In your careers, you will meet many people. All are significant. They deserve your attention and care, even if all you do is smile and say 'hello'." "I've never forgotten that lesson. I also learned her name was Dorothy.

Second Important Lesson

One night, at 11:30 PM, an older African American woman was standing on the side of an Alabama highway trying to endure a lashing rain storm. Her car had broken down and she desperately needed a ride. Soaking wet, she decided to flag down the next car. A young white man stopped to help her, generally unheard of in those conflict-filled 1960s. The man took her to safety, helped her get assistance and put her into a taxi cab.

She seemed to be in a big hurry, but wrote down his address and thanked him. Seven days went by and a knock came on the man's door. To his surprise, a giant console color TV was delivered to his home. A special note was attached. It read: "Thank you so much for assisting me on the highway the other night. The rain drenched not only my clothes, but also my spirits. Then you came along. Because of you, I was able to make it to my dying husband's bedside just before he passed away.
God bless you for helping me and unselfishly serving others."
Sincerely, Mrs. Nat King Cole.

Third Important Lesson

In the days when an ice cream sundae cost much less, a 10 year old boy entered a hotel coffee shop and sat at a table. A waitress put a glass of water in front of him.
"How much is an ice cream sundae?" he asked. "Fifty cents," replied the waitress. The little boy pulled his hand out of his pocket and studied the coins in it. "Well, how much is a plain dish of ice cream?" he inquired. By now more people were waiting for a table and the waitress was growing impatient. "Thirty-five cents," she brusquely replied."

The little boy again counted his coins. "I'll have the plain ice cream," he said. The waitress brought the ice cream, put the bill on the table and walked away. The boy finished the ice cream, paid the cashier and left. When the waitress came
back, she began to cry as she wiped down the table. There, placed neatly beside the empty dish, were two nickels and five pennies. You see, he couldn't have the sundae, because he had to have enough left to leave her a tip.

Fourth Important Lesson

In ancient times, a King had a boulder placed on a roadway. Then he hid himself and watched to see if anyone would remove the huge rock. Some of the king's wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by and simply walked around it. Many loudly blamed the king for not keeping the roads clear. But none did anything about getting the stone out of the way. Then a peasant came along carrying a load of vegetables. Upon approaching the boulder, the peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the stone to the side of the road. After much pushing and straining, he finally succeeded. After the peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed a purse lying in the road where the boulder had been. The purse contained many gold coins and a note from the king indicating that the gold was for the person who removed the boulder from the roadway. The peasant learned what many of us never understand. Every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve our condition.

Fifth Important Lesson

Many years ago, when I worked as a volunteer at a hospital, I got to know a little girl named Liz, who was suffering from a rare and serious disease. Her only chance of recovery appeared to be a blood transfusion from her 5-year old brother, who had miraculously survived the same disease and had developed the antibodies needed to combat the illness. The doctor explained the situation to her little brother, and asked the little boy if he would be willing to give his blood to his sister.

I saw him hesitate for only a moment before taking a deep breath and saying, "Yes, I'll do it if it will save her.." As the transfusion progressed, he lay in bed next to his sister and smiled, as we all did, seeing the color returning to her cheeks. Then his face grew pale and his smile faded. He looked up at the doctor and asked with a trembling voice, "Will I start to die right away?" Being young, the little boy had misunderstood the doctor; he thought he was going to have to give his sister all of his blood in order to save her.

You see understanding and attitude, after all, is everything. Now you can do something. You have 2 choices now :

Make your own life lessons pay off by helping someone else.

Read this and think it was just a nice thought and you wish you had more time to do the things you want to do.

Work like you don't need the money.
Love like you've never been hurt, and
Dance like you do when nobody's watching

To your success~

A Spanish teacher...

...was explaining to her class that in Spanish, unlike English, nouns are designated as either masculine or feminine.

"House" for instance, is feminine: "la casa."

"Pencil,"however, is masculine: "el lapiz.."

A student asked, "What gender is 'computer'?"

Instead of giving the answer, the teacher split the class into two groups, male and female, and asked them to decide for themselves whether "computer" should be a masculine or a feminine noun. Each group was asked to give four reasons for its recommendation.

The men's group decided that "computer" should definitely be of the feminine gender ("la computadora"), because:
  • No one but their creator understands their internal logic;
  • The native language they use to communicate with other computers is incomprehensible to everyone else;
  • Even the smallest mistakes are stored in long term memory for possible later retrieval; and
  • As soon as you make a commitment to one, you find yourself spending half your paycheck on accessories for it.
(THIS GETS BETTER!)

The women's group, however, concluded that computers should be Masculine("el computador"), because:
  • In order to do anything with them, you have to turn them on;
  • They have a lot of data but still can't think for themselves;
  • They are supposed  to help you solve problems, but half the time they ARE the problem; and
  • As soon as you commit to one, you realize that if you had waited a little longer, you could have gotten a better model.
The women won.

WILL POWER

An old man lived alone. He wanted to spade his potato garden, but it was very hard work. His only son, who would have helped him, was in prison. The old man wrote a letter to his son and mentioned his situation.

'Dear Son,
I am feeling pretty bad because it looks like I won't be able to plant  my potato garden this year. I hate to miss doing the garden, because your mother always loved planting time. I'm just getting too old to be digging up a garden plot. If you were here, all my troubles would be over. I know you would dig the plot for me, if you weren't in the prison
Love, Dad'
............ .......

Shortly, the old man received this telegram:
'For Heaven's sake, Dad,don't dig up the garden!! That's where I buried the GUNS!'

At 4 a.m. the next morning, a dozen police officers showed up and dug up the entire garden without finding any guns.

Confused, the old man wrote another note to his son telling him what happened, and asked him what to do next.

His son's reply was:
'Go ahead and plant your  potatoes, Dad. It's the best I could do for you from here.'

Change your point of view

You've probably heard of Stephen Covey, author of "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People". He uses the word paradigm a lot, which simply means belief, or point of view.

Dr. Covey believes that you need to have a paradigm shift before you can make dramatic breakthroughs in your business success - or your life.

Here's a story I heard a few years ago that illustrates the point perfectly.

Imagine you are in London's Heathrow Airport. While you are waiting for your flight, you notice a kiosk selling shortbread cookies. You buy a box, put them in your traveling bag and then you patiently search for an available seat so you can sit down and enjoy your cookies.

Finally you find a seat next to a gentleman. You reach down into your traveling bag and pull out your box of shortbread cookies. As you do so, you notice that the gentleman starts watching you intensely. He stares as you open the box and his eyes follow your hand as you pick up the cookie and bring it to your mouth.

Just then he reaches over and takes one of your cookies from the box, and eats it! You are more than a little surprised at this. Actually you are at a loss for words.

Not only does he take one cookie, but he alternates with you. For every one cookie you take, he takes one.

Now, what is your immediate impression of this guy? Crazy, Greedy? He's got some nerve?! Can you imagine the words you might use to describe this man to your associates back at the office?

Meanwhile, you both continue eating the cookies until there is just one left. To your surprise, the man reaches over and takes it. But then he does something unexpected. He breaks it in half, and gives half to you.

After he's finished with his half he gets up, and without a word he leaves.

You think to yourself, "Did this really happen?" You are left sitting there dumbfounded and still hungry. So you go back to the kiosk and buy another box of cookies.

You then return to your seat and begin opening your new box of cookies when you glance down into your traveling bag. Sitting there in your bag is your original box of cookies - still unopened.

Only then do you realise that when you reached down earlier, you had reached into the other mans bag, and grabbed his box of cookies by mistake.

Now what do you think of the man? Generous? Tolerant?

You have just experienced a profound paradigm shift. You are seeing things from a new point of view.

Is it time to change your point of view?

Now, think of this story as it relates to your business. Perhaps you have been doing something the same way for years, but never stopped to think how it could be done better. A little bit of research and brainstorming may make you see what you are currently doing in a whole new light.

Maybe you have only been using newspaper advertising to market your business, and haven't been open to other methods of marketing.

Seeing things from a new point of view can be very enlightening.

Possibly, you have been annoyed at one particular client who may have complained about some aspect of your service, but when you actually take the time to understand his frustration and his point of view, you may suddenly experience an entirely different perspective.

After all, he may have just helped you to avoid problems with future customers.

Think outside the box. Don't settle for the status quo. Be open to suggestions. Be open to changing your point of view.

Things may not be what they seem.

Who am I?

I am your constant companion.

I am your greatest helper or heaviest burden.

I will push you onward or drag you down to failure.

I am completely at your command.

Half the things you do might as well be turned over to me and I will be able to do them quickly and correctly.

I am easily managed - you must merely be firm with me. Show me exactly how you want something done and after a few lessons I will do it automatically.

I am the servant of all great people and, alas, of all failures, as well.

Those who are great, I have made great.

Those who are failures, I have made failures.

I am not a machine though I work with all the precision of a machine plus the intelligence of a person. You may run me for profit or run me for ruin --it makes no differene to me.

Take me, train me, be firm with me, and I will place the world at your feet. Be easy with me and I will destroy you.

Who am I?

I am Habit:

Note: A habit is a system that you have mastered through practice.

Insanely Obvious Sign

Obvious?

How to make someone's day

Sometimes all it takes is a small gesture to turn someone’s day around.

Three years ago, I worked as an intern in my town’s public library. I spent many mornings there typing up educational programs at the head librarian’s computer, surrounded by just bookcases. The job was a lonely one because the library hours were sparse. One day, a man walked into the library and handed me a cup of cappuccino.

“Just thought you’d enjoy something warm,” he said with a smile, and disappeared through the door.

That one extremely simple act has stuck with me over the past few years as being one of the most genuine expressions of kindness.

So why not do something nice for a person at random? If you need advice on how to make someone happy, the following are some favourite ideas from Thank Goodness It’s Monday, including contributions from the comments.
  • Smile at a stranger
  • Put a quarter in someone’s expired meter
  • Pay for the person behind you at the drive-thru
  • Buy flowers at your grocery store and give them to the cashier on the way out
  • Call your parents to apologize for when you were a brat (especially if you have kids)
  • Recreate one of your first dates with your significant other
  • Put a post-it note on the bathroom mirror for your significant other, just to say I love you
  • For kids, eat ice cream for dinner
  • Smile as you’re holding the door open for themselves
  • Tell your boss that they’re doing a good job
  • Tell your boss your co-worker is doing a good job
  • At the office, brew a fresh pot of coffee
  • Give flowers to the receptionist
  • Take a friend out for supper for no reason
  • Let the other driver take the parking spot you’re competing for
  • Give your friend chocolates, for no reason
  • Let your child pick what’s for dinner, and have them help you prepare it
  • Write a letter to a teacher who has influenced you
  • Buy someone a present, but don’t tell them who it’s from
  • Mow your neighbour’s lawn or shovel their driveway in the winter
  • Tell somebody in customer service that they’re doing a great job
  • Carry someone elses groceries to their car
  • Leave goodies in your mailbox for the mailman
  • Buy lunch for a homeless personally
  • Teach your kid the Chicken Dance

Time

Imagine there is a bank that deposits 86 400 dollars into your bank account every morning.

Nothing’s wrong, the deposits are legitimate and correctly made by an enormously rich beneficiary. But the bank doesn’t transfer the money from one day to another. Every night the money which you haven’t used that day is removed from your account. What would you do under such circumstances?

Of course you would use all the money put in your account daily, day after day wouldn’t you?. The great thing is that we all have such an account! But it is not money that is put into that account – the name of the account is TIME.

Every day you get 86 400 seconds. Every night all the time you haven’t used is removed forever. Nothing is transferred and you can’t use it in advance. Every day a new account is started on your behalf.

Every night unused time disappears. If you don’t use today’s deposit, the only one to blame is you yourself. There is no way back. You can't overdraft your account for tomorrow! You have to live in the “present” and use today’s deposit. Invest your time as wisely as you can so you gain the most in return in regard to health, happiness, success, wealth and wisdom.

Time passes. Make the best of your day TODAY!
